Currently we ran into an issue were our SEPM (11.0.6) was not updating. Our dbas noticed that FG_CONTENT was set to restricted and as soon as this restriction was lifted the manager version began to update. Is it best practices to restrict the growth of these files? Do they need to be cleaned out? Is there a best practices guide? SQL version is 2005. Any advice appreciated.
I am trying to be able to pull a report from the SEPM for the last year's activity. I am interested in the comprehensive risk report as a starter but there are other reports i would like to see in a full year time frame but they are all coming back empty.
I can generate a risk report for a month but anything longer than that it comes back blank. Even when I KNOW that there were detections.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Noticed that my LUA has not downloaded an update since last Monday (11.11.2013). Received an error due to insufficient free space for updates, although, I had about 9GB worth of disk space free.
Dig some Googling and ran into this setting that caught my attention:
Preferences\Required_Disk_Space=10485760 = assuming that's in KB, which equals to about 10GB of required disk space.
I've decided to test this setting by removing/migrating data to a different volume which would give me the free disk space required (managed to free up 14GB Total). Went back to kick off the scheduler and it successfully downloaded the latest update with no error.
Is 10GB required or can this setting be lowered?
P.S. Apologized beforehand, as I did do a search here and was not able to obtain any information on this. Free feel to post some links if there are.

I have no completed backup for several days now.
Backup jobs get stalled,´when backingup to deduplication store, it looks like they are running but no disc og netvork activity.
I can work around in the BE2012 GUI, can cancel jobs but they newer stops. If i try to restart BE services it fails to stop BE job engine which get the stopping state in services cannot start the Beutil. Windows is working okay, but if I try tor restart the server, it get stucked at stopping services, so I have to switch it off on the power button.

I generated the key and installed the certificate for a Digital ID for Secure Email, and then tried to send an encrypted email to a contact at another company. They were unable to read the encrypted email, and when I sent it, I got a message that said "Microsoft outlook had problems encrypting this message because the following recipients had missing or invalid certificates, or conflicting or unsupported encryption capabilities: emailofperson"
What do I have to do to make sure the person I am sharing encrypted email with can read my emails? I've never used encryption before and don't know much about how it works.

I ran into an issue where I was trying to create several registry keys inside of an already packaged SWV app using the Workspace Admin GUI. It seems that when I try to add a new registry key thats more than one level deep the key either doesn't show up at all (it does show up in the SWV Layer, i.e. HKLM\_SWV_LAYER_1) or registry editor throws an error and won't open the key.
Environment is Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I've tested on 3 different systems with the same result.

I'm studying about VMware & SharePoint into VRay Technology, I'm reading in the manual that we cannot backup when:
Virtual Machine Disk (vmdk) volumes that are marked as independent. Make
sure that the SharePoint databases are not stored on independent disks.
My SharePoint server is a virtual machine, but my SharePoint databases server is a phisycal machine, is it possible to back it up with the VMware Policy? or should I configure backups by other way?

I have a BackupExec 2012 that gives the alert about servers not having an agent installed, but those computers are not servers, they are regular Windows.
I saw this article, https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-found-5-servers-without-agent-windows-installed, but I do not wish to turn off the feature, I just want regular Windows not appearing in the list.
There is another BackupExec 2012 in another environment that I support, that do not have this alert! In fact in the browse window, it does not have the "All servers", and this the section for "Servers without agent". I did some search, but could not find why the section "All servers" appears on one server and not on the other one.
How to resolve?

I have a Solaris LUN that is 100GB containing more than 1 million small text files that takes a long time to complete the backup via our current Standard policy.
Thus, I am looking either to backup this LUN via the NDMP policy through our NetApp filer or by performing a FlashBackup policy.
I am looking to achieve the following with this new policy:
1. Ability to perform file-level restoration. I am not sure if FlashBackup allows this feature.
2. Faster backup time (a comparison between NDMP and FlashBackup)
3. This LUN is zoned to a Solaris 10 SPARC server and formatted with acfs partition. Is there any consideration to take note for such partition with FlashBackup?
4. Restoration of this LUN to the server. Do I need to craft out a new acfs partition before carry out the restoration?
After the restoration, do I stilll need to configure my ASM to check and ensure that it can access this LUN?
I appreciate all help and advise on this matter.

Tacloban, the new ground zero created by Haiyan, is the raison d'être for a large Directory Harvest Attack (DHA) launched by spammers today.
A DHA attack is launched to check the validity of an email directory or emails related to a targeted email server. The aim of this is to collect intelligence and prepare a platform to launch a large spam campaign on that particular site once a database is put in place. Rejected emails return as bounce or Non-Delivery Report/Receipt (NDR) and the rest is concluded as legit, while valid emails will soon be bombarded with a host of spam, phish and malware laden email attacks.
The attack is launched, with the spammer claiming to be from a reputed mass media and communications company on a very large internet site and service provider, for the sole purpose of harvesting and validating email addresses.
The email’s structure is very simple. The headers and body content of the said attack are taken from a news article of a reputed news channel that was published around 14 November 2013. The alias in the form line and the subject line contain randomization at the end to prevent being caught by the spam filter detection.

Symantec advises users to configure directory harvest attack recognition to protect their website environment, and to update their spam filter algorithms to repel such attacks.
We have an environment in which exchange is configured with DAG and backups are happening through Symantec Veritas Netbackup 7.0.
We have been trying to run a restoration for a Public Folder database using netbackup but the same fails to write any data to the location which is specified.

It shows the file is being read in the task but once it reaches the end we get an error and the restore fails.
Can someone please assist on how to restore a PUBLIC FOLDER database from Netbackup 7.

I am trying to backup SQL Server Databases , and we are using SQLINSTANCE $ALL in out backup script. Log backups are failing with Status 1 , saying some DBs can't backed up because they are in Simple recovery mode. How to Exclude those DBs from LOG backups.
